Accessibility Statement

I want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, screen magnifiers, a keyboard, voice control or high contrast settings. I use the NVDA screen reader myself, so accessibility is part of how this website is built, not something added at the end.

Standard

This website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The main text goes further and meets the stricter AAA level for colour contrast, in both light and dark mode.

What the website does

Every page has a "Skip to main content" link at the top, clear headings, landmarks and the same menu, so screen reader users can move around quickly. Everything works with a keyboard alone, and the keyboard focus is always clearly visible.

The website follows the light or dark mode of your device and respects the reduced motion setting. Text can be enlarged to 200 percent, and pages fit small screens without sideways scrolling. The main text is set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for readers with low vision.

Bangla passages are marked as Bangla, so screen readers that support it switch to a Bangla voice. All Bangla text uses standard Unicode, not older Bijoy fonts.

Images that carry meaning have text descriptions, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers. Every form field has a visible label, errors are explained in words, and the forms have no time limits. In the language picker, you can type the first letters of a language and choose it with Enter or Tab, and the page is then translated straight away. A "Back to top" link at the bottom of every page returns you to the top.

About the logo

The logo shows my initials, n and h, as braille dots. One dot is red, like the sun on the flag of Bangladesh. The logo is decorative, so screen readers skip it.

How it is tested

Every page is checked with automated accessibility tests, with a keyboard alone, at 200 percent zoom and on small phone screens. I also use the website with NVDA myself.

Known limitations

Pages translated through the language picker are produced by Google Translate. They are outside my control and may be less accessible than the original English pages. Race Master is a Windows program, and how it works with screen readers is described in the Race Master guide.

Report a problem

If anything on this website is difficult to use, please tell me. Email contact@nazimhossain.org, name the page and describe the problem. I will do my best to fix it quickly.
